Khandro Gyuma Chenmo (the Dreamyogagoddess)
Yoga… a Sanscrit word that comes from the verb Yuj, to unite the mind and body in a discipline; to unite, connect, and remember… in this case, dreams. Uniting body and mind in the dimension of dreams as part of our sacred objective which is to recognize our own true natural state.
This sacred practice is a crucial practice for us, not only to be able to transform our waking life, but to train our mind for the day we die. Alle of us dream every night; some remember dreams and have a vivid dreamlife, others do not remember. Doesn’t matter. All of us can train to recall dreams, induce lucidity in dreams and train our mind to be flexible. This is what the long-term practice of dream-yoga does.
Western science has studied dreaming, its cycles, its psychology, and some have even ventured to ‘decipher or interpret’ their content. Nevertheless, in our Yungdrung Bön tradition, this practice of dream yoga is not as much concerned with the content of the dream, but on the dreamer learning to recognize the illusion of these appearances.
We will explore the Western perspective on dreams and learn our sacred practice. In this case, it is one of the six practices of excellence of the Magyud or Mother Tantra.
Dream yoga for me, is essential for all Yungdrung Bön practitioners who take their training seriously; it is not a game. As all practitioners, it needs diligence, discipline, mindfulness, joy, commitment and a sense of adventure!
Welcome to the exploration of a dimension where we journey every night!
